Dr. Sonja Kristiansen and her team provide a suite of fertility treatment options to meet the unique needs of lesbian couples aspiring to expand their families. As our patient, you can expect compassionate care performed using advanced technology and techniques.
How the Houston Fertility Center Can Help
During your first consultation, you and your partner can begin to consider important questions such as:
- Will a partner or a surrogate carry the baby?
- Who will contribute the egg?
- Will the sperm sample be provided by a known donor or a sperm bank?
- Should we consider embryonic genetic testing to screen for genetic abnormalities?
Patients should also plan on reviewing their medical history and reviewing fertility-related health factors such as maternal age and any past fertility issues. Based on this information, Dr. Kristiansen can recommend an individualized treatment plan and help you take the first step toward achieving your goals.
If you and your partner are ready to take the first steps toward building a family, choose a clinic that has helped to facilitate LGBT family building for more than 20 years.
We offer advanced treatments to help you and your partner achieve parenthood:
IUI - Intrauterine insemination (IUI) involves placing sperm inside a woman's uterus to facilitate fertilization. This fertility treatment is also known as artificial insemination.
IVF - In vitro fertilization (IVF) involves extracting eggs from a woman and combining them with a sperm specimen in a laboratory. Soon after fertilization, the healthiest embryos are identified and transferred to the woman’s uterus.
Reciprocal IVF - This approach allows for lesbian couples to share in the IVF experience by using an egg from one partner, which is then fertilized and implanted into the uterus of the other partner.
INVOcell™ - This option involves using a device and procedure that relies on the woman’s reproductive tract for fertilization and embryonic development, rather than having these processes performed in a laboratory. This option can help save a considerable amount in laboratory fees. In the vast majority of cases, INVOcell is only an option for a woman who wishes to have her own eggs transferred to her uterus.
Sperm donation - Our fertility clinic works with couples who are interested in using a sperm donor whom they know personally, or we can coordinate with a reputable agency for sperm selection. We can arrange sperm donation with Fairfax Cryobank, California Cryobank, and other highly reputable sperm banks that follow Food and Drug Administration regulations to ensure the best possible outcomes.
