Stay Tuned!

Greetings,

While the summer heat drags on, we thought now might be a good time to lighten things up a bit and talk about air conditioned activities, like watching TV and reading magazines.

Dr. Kristiansen gives her patients a lot of opportunities to point at "the tube" and announce to family and friends, "That's my doc!" She's also a frequently quoted source in both national and local magazines.

Whenever possible, we compile archives of her appearances on video and in print, so you can view them at your leisure from our website.

Here's a quick run-down of Dr. K's latest:

Fox26 News Special - "Babies & Biology"
In one segment, the doctor and patients, Karen and Cliff Nickels, talk about how their use of IVF with donor egg resulted in precious daughter Kayden. Plus, an unrelated egg donor discusses why she does it.

The Nickels family and the couple's 12-year infertility struggle were also featured in an article for Houston's Style & Living Magazine in 2005. (By the way, Karen, Cliff, and Kayden are thrilled to announce that another little one is on the way, resulting from the remaining donor eggs from her previous cycle!)

A second part of the Fox26 Special, which aired May 2006, offers a chance for patient Kym Rilley to share how IVF brought her history of recurrent miscarriage to a close, with the birth of Peyton.

KSAT Channel 12 - "Choose the Sex of Your Next Baby"

Houston-area residents probably know that they're lucky when it comes to medical expertise at their doorstep. In fact, the convenient location of our central office means that Houston Infertility Clinic regularly sees patients from well beyond the city limits. San Antonio TV station, KSAT, chose Dr. Kristiansen as the "go-to" physician to talk about how the MicroSort technique can be used by both infertile and fertile couples who wish to choose the gender of their child.

KHOU Channel 11 - "Male Infertility After Cancer"

KHOU Channel 11 spoke to William and Juanita VanBuren about how Dr. Kristiansen's use of IVF-ICSI worked a miracle in their lives. William, a cancer survivor, experienced a condition known as retro- ejaculation as the result of surgical removal of his testicle. With cryopreserved sperm obtained through a previous electro-ejaculation procedure, he and Juanita were able to have a baby.

Style & Living Magazine - "Today's Family-Building Options"

In addition to the story on the Nickels family ("Congratulations... You're Pregnant!"), another issue of Style & Living gave Dr. Kristiansen the opportunity to explain how she fell in love with the practice of reproductive endocrinology and infertility. She talks to readers about the myths of older women getting pregnant easily, the miracles created with gender selection technology, and the key importance of the male partner's involvement in diagnosis and treatment.

People Magazine - "Boy? Girl? You Choose"

This story in the national publication reaped a lot of attention for the MicroSort gender selection technology and the reasons that couples choose to use it. Dr. Kristiansen was one of several quoted sources for the article.
